San Miguel de Allende

Paul is a reformed Internal Revenue Service tax attorney. He moved to Mexico with his wife and two teenage children in 2018 and currently plays pickleball three or four times a week at his local club in San Miguel de Allende, where he also gives lessons. His favorite part of the sport is traveling to tournaments throughout the country to play mens doubles with his son. When he's not on the court, Paul tries to make a few pesos to fund his habit. His tax articles have appeared in various publications, including International Living and Expats in Mexico. His travel memoir, "The Year We Ruined Our Lives, A Family Road Trip Through Mexico and Central America" was published in 2022.

JESSE
HANDSHER

Jesse went on a 1 month backpacking trip to Mexico in July 2020 and never left. He has lived in Sayulita, Los Barriles, and Chapala with his fiance whom he met in Mexico, Cinthya, and 14 year old dog, Kermit.  On a fateful day 2.5 years ago, Jesse was introduced to the game of pickleball at Tres Palapas Pickleball Club and reluctantly joined a game in which two 75 year olds beat him and his partner 11-0, but he was hooked!  Since then, he plays pickleball several times a week. Jesse is a filmmaker and video producer and now has begun to merge content creation and pickleball. He has dove into growing the sport of pickleball in Mexico, highlighting the incredible players Mexico has, and improving on his game. His only conflict being juggling content creation with simulataneously playing at tournaments around Mexico.

SANDY
TONEMAN

Mexico City, Mexico State

Sandy is Brazilian-American but ventured to Mexico during the start of the pandemic.  She quickly got involved in the local community and started a dog rescue which takes up most of her time.  As former brand advertising professional working for the world's best sport brands (adidas, Nike) and a former collegiate athlete, Sandy has always loved the benefits of sports for communities and for overall physical and mental health.  When Jesse introduced her to Pickleball, not just the game but the entire community and social aspect, she became a passionate advocate for the sport.  Now a flight attendant, Sandy uses her downtime brainstorming on how to grow the amazing game and community around Pickleball in the country she now calls home.
